Rights Respecting School Award

The Award is a UNICEF initiative which aims to put the rights of children at the heart of everything that goes on in school.  At the end of last year we achieved the first part of the award which is the Bronze Award.  This means that everyone involved in the school is aware of the Award and knows about the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

We are now working towards achieving the second part, Silver, which involves making sure all the children are able to talk or communicate about their rights and can show that they are achieving these rights. This will be done through various assemblies, displays in the class and around the school, and incorporating the rights in lessons.  There is also a committee consisting of children from both the primary and secondary departments who are our rights champions and will be  involved in helping us become rights respecting school.
