Our last day in the old building
Today in the last day that pupils will spend in our old school building.  We said goodbye to all the children at lunch time and they will see their teachers and friends again on March 1st, when they come for a visit to the new building.  Our teachers are already busy packing up the classrooms and feeling a little sad themselves as they remember all the happy times they have had in our old building.
We asked our deputy head, Kevin Smith, how he was feeling and he told us… ‘It seems only last week that we were welcoming the new year and all the change it can bring and suddenly we are poised on the edge of the biggest change for all of us- moving into our new school!  Only this week I have been watching how our new sports hall can be divided into two small halls (both larger than our existing hall), listening to various tones and bells that will signal the beginning and end of the day and, as we speak, I am surrounded by crates in which all the school will be moved to our new site.  It is mind boggling to think that in two weeks we will all be in a brand new building and I hope that our children and parents are as excited as I am!’

One week to go!
We only have a few days left in our old building and the excitement is mounting!  Our priority is to ensure a safe transition for all of our pupils, and activities are taking place across the school to support this.  In lessons and assemblies, we have been talking about the move and listening our pupils’ concerns.  Most of our pupils are very excited about the move, but are naturally sad to leave the current building where they have been very happy.  Some children are nervous about life in the new school and we have been able to reassure them that their teachers and friends will all be at the new school and will support them while they learn all about their new surroundings.
To help the pupils settle in, school visits have been planned for Thursday 1st March.  Parents will have received an invitation to book a timeslot for their visit.  Please remember to return your reply slip to the School Office by Wednesday February 14th.
Here’s a quick reminder of the key dates:
Wednesday February 14th:  Last day of school.  We will close after lunch at 1pm.
Thursday March 1st:  Pupils and parents visit their new classrooms in the new school.
Friday March 2nd:  The new school will be fully open for pupils and school day will be from 8.55am until 3pm, as normal.

The countdown begins…

We are very excited that the move to our new school is now only a few weeks away.  Our old school building will close after lunch on Wednesday 14th February.  Pupils should be collected by parents or carers at 1pm; those who travel on school transport will be collected by the minibuses; and independent travelers will be allowed to leave.
Our teachers and teaching assistants are preparing their classes by discussing the move with them and encouraging them to ask lots of questions.  Next week’s assemblies will focus on the move and give our pupils the opportunity to ask more questions.  We encourage all parents and carers to chat to their children about the move and keep their teacher informed of any specific anxieties their child has.
The new school building will be open on Thursday 1st March for pupils and their parents to visit their new classrooms.  Timeslots will be allocated to all pupils and parents, and independent travelers will be allocated a slot of their own.  More information about the visits will be provided next week.
The term will re-start in our new school on Friday 2nd March for normal school hours.
We asked our Headteacher, Tracy Meredith, what she is most looking forward to in the new school and she told us ‘I’m really excited about the fantastic space we will have in our new school, which will provide wonderful opportunities to learn and play’.
